The Morehead-Cain scholarship is the first merit scholarship program established in the United States. It is also founded at the first public University, and is the first to implement a Summer Enrichment program.
The scholarship awards students with four years of undergraduate education with all expenses covered.
Additionally, it covers their summer enrichment activities involving four summers of independent research, internships, and international studies.
The scholars are constantly working with advisors and pursuing opportunities to make a positive impact, as well as connecting and networking with alumni for guidance.
Morehead-Cain scholars actively work to improve the community around them at UNC, and everywhere they go.
The Morehead-Cain Foundation selects about 75 students annually for the program. This equates to a total active cohort of about 300-350 scholars currently on campus.
